This year, Winter Solstice shares it’s time with the Full Moon, and a Meteor Shower.  December 21, was officially the shortest day of the year making it the longest night.  The Ursid Meteor Shower will peak between December 22 and 23 with up to 10 meteors per hour.  It is called the Ursid Meteor Shower because is appears to come from the Little Dipper Constellation in the sky.  December 22 is the Full Cold Moon, named after the full moon marking the beginning of the coldest part of the year, adds to the overall energy.

The Winter Solstice celebrates the presence of Spirit and the power of faith and hope that our visions of the future will come into light.  It’s speculated that most religions have events that match up with the events involving the sun, which is why there is often spiritual meaning.  Stonehenge in England, was built by the earliest people to follow the sun’s yearly progress.  “Temples in Ireland that existed thousands of years before the birth of Jesus have been built in such a manner that during the Winter Solstice, the sunrise lines up perfectly with a crucifix built into the inner chamber.  The Pagans often celebrated the Winter Solstice as it marked the turning of the tides and the beginning of the slow road to Summer.  Even within Christianity there are nods to the Winter Solstice spiritual meaning.  Jesus himself was born during the time of the winter solstice…”

Spiritually speaking, this lunar phase is associated the growth, development, and progress.  This Full Cold Moon energy matches that anticipation you feel just before finishing a major project or meeting a long-term goal.  Therefore energizing us to keep moving forward while reminding us of all we’ve done so far.

As I look back on this year, I’m filled with many emotions and feelings.  I decided to choose adventure and adapt to a nomad/gypsy lifestyle.  With all the excitement and “butterflies” that choice gave me, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to some sense of failure.  I try to change my perception from “failure” to growth.  I learned from my first attempt, and I’m adapting, learning, and growing.  Hoping that my next attempt, in Spring, will bring me to a different level of growth, perhaps a feeling of accomplishment and success.  I keep moving forward while remembering what I’ve done so far.

I’m preparing to teach my first Wilderness First Responder course.  It’s in Ely, Minnesota in January…Brrrrr. I’m looking forward to learning.  I love to learn!  I think we tend to learn best when we are teaching others.  I’m also working on my Holistic Wellness Courses/Modules.  Hoping to launch in January.  Helping others live in their best holistic wellness is a long-term goal, I’m hoping to achieve.

Blessings to everyone who follows Gypsywildhealer, and may the magic of this time energize you to keep moving forward…
